About The Ermitage > Location
Immediate Surroundings:
It is in the heart of Limassol, literally on the beach. Its location is unique; no roads cut the residences from the beach. Though completely central, its surroundings are quiet and peaceful. The surrounding area is clad with large, old eucalyptus trees that border the bed of Yermasoyia River which, though mostly dry in the long summer months, forms a natural open parkland for the district. On the south side the Mediterranean Sea laps lazily the sandy beach.
On the East is Lordos River Beach, a mature residential beachfront project. On the West our neighbour is the Miramare - an established, smart beach hotel with beautiful grounds and gardens. On the North is the River Yermasoyia!
Life and the City:
What is Limassol about?
Limassol to those of us who know it, is a bustling, fun and enterprising coastal city. You will be hard pressed to find Limassol lacking in terms of what you would expect to find in any modern, medium sized city. Both a resort and a town in its own right, Limassol offers water parks, a zoo, modern multiplex cinemas, theatres, bowling facilities, libraries, museums, arts and crafts centres, theme parks and antiquities.
Of course it goes without saying that the residents of this coastal city like anything to do with water! Swimming, snorkelling, water skiing, sailing of all types-from a 470 or a Laser Class to a Tornado Class boat for the younger folks to an endless variety of sailing boats and power boats-scuba diving, fishing, the list is only limited by your imagination! The young ones, especially, literally soak up these experiences that become precious memories over time.
Limassol also is clearly a business hub-there is no better choice for a businessman than Limassol when it comes to choosing. Limassol sports a vibrant, enterprising business community, excellent legal, financial and offshore facilities, business centres, top communication facilities and generally a business-friendly and well educated professional community environment accustomed to working together with international businessmen. Along with Liechtenstein and the Virgin Islands, it is probably one of the world’s capitals of offshore-based businesses. Setting up an offshore base in Cyprus is easy and profitable-indeed, the potential tax savings from setting up an offshore company here may provide a substantial contribution towards the purchase of your new home.
Cyprus is from approximately one to four hours’ flight away from all other European capitals as far away as Lisbon, London and Stockholm. Cyprus is also close to the Middle East and Africa; Cairo, Tel Aviv, Beirut and Istanbul are from 30 to 60 minutes away! Cyprus’ political neutrality and small size allow its residents easier access to people of neighbouring cultures.
Riding the wave of Cyprus’ entry into the EU, Europeans who are now entitled not only to live but also to work in this beautiful island, seek prime, top specification real estate. Many people take up this new opportunity to enjoy a much higher standard of living, and not at great cost either!
What can I see and do around Limassol?
On the way to the skiing resort of Troodos-less than an hour away-one will drive through scenic routes reminiscent of the south coast of France, amongst wineries, olive groves and vineyards, dams, forests, waterfalls and traditional villages with both vibrant and sleepy coffee shops. Minor roads stray off the main road and lead you into villages-some discovered, like Lania, and inhabited by a mixture of locals living their ordinary village life, and artists who were inspired by the beauty of the scenery and enticed by the promise of a sedate, quiet life.
Other villages remain to be discovered. Past the exclusive pine clad summer resort of Moniatis, the sunny slopes of Mount Olympus are a charm both in winter and summer.
Along the coastline, a staggering variety of beaches both east and west of Limassol’s own sandy beaches range from deserted to go-go, with everything in between. We have a lot of information to give you on this particular subject, well beyond the scope of this presentation.
You can easily reach any point on the island, spend enough time there and come back in the same day. The roads are good and the traffic is light to reasonable. The island as a whole is an archaeological treasure grove and a paradise for geologists, bird watchers and nature lovers, with a culturally diverse, active and positive friendly society that is constantly juggling the work-pleasure equation in search of harmony. And Golf, of course
